My favorite tapa; creamy chorizo and green beans

May 25, 2010

This is one of the most scrumptious dishes I have ever had. Last year in May, I went to Berlin with my dad and brother for a week while Andy was in the states. While I was there, I had to write an exam paper for the university. That sure sucked because it meant that I couldn’t go and do all the things I wanted to do during the day. But then at night we had some amazing dinners and cozy evenings in the city.

Just for the record; Berlin is great, and if you haven’t already been, you better go soon. It is every bit as cool of a city as Paris, London and all the other great cities in Europe. But the thing with Berlin is, that it feels like it’s day is now, and that it is the coolest place to be, right now, and not 200 years ago. Go soon, you won’t regret it!

Okay, back to the story: one night my family and I stopped at this little tapas place for dinner, and it was absolutely awesome. And the thing that made it so awesome, is this green bean and chorizo dish that completely knocked our socks off. My dad (who is every bit as wild with food as I am) and I immediately tried to recreate it when we got home, and I think we did really well.

Here’s what you need for a big portion:

4 dl (2 cups) green beans

4 cloves of garlic

2 dl (2/3 cup) sliced chorizo

2 1/2 dl (a little more than 1 cup) heavy cream

1 red chili (mine was very mild, so use less if yours is really spicy)

Salt

Pepper

Olive oil

Good bread

And this is how you make it:

In a frying pan, add some olive oil. Heat it up and add the coarsely chopped garlic, chili and chorizo. Fry it until the chorizo has left some of it’s fat, and before the garlic gets burnt. Then add the beans and fry it for a minute. Pour over the cream, and let it simmer until the cream is thick and orange from the delicious oils and spices of the chorizo. Season it with salt and pepper. I promise; it is addictive, and just so darn delicious. Please buy some good bread to scoop up the sauce, and bliss is ensured. Serve it with other delicious tapas, and some good wine, and then pray for good weather!

Det ser godt nok fantastisk ud. Og sikke flotte billeder du tager. Hvilken linse bruger du?

Hej Nadia. Tak for rosen, det er guld værd når man er ny blogger! Og i lige måde; jeg har længe fundet inspiration på din lækre side. Jeg bruger bare en standard 18-55-linse fra Nikon. Kh Kristina

    Greetings from Ireland!
We tried this tonight and it turned out simply wonderful! We made a few small changes like using light cream since we wanted less calories. And we also added a cut up spicy red pepper which was awesome in it. The light cream didn’t cover as nicely as heavy cream probably would have, but it was still delicious.

We also tried your feta cheese, yogurt and pesto dip- also terrific and super easy to make!!

    Alright Kristina,
Greetings from Glasgow. This is a pure peach of a recipe – should be a tapas staple. Thanks very much for spreading the love. I am now spreading it too. Made it for some friends last night and they thought it was tasty. You should give it a Danish name….
